Feedback Thoughts

Image
Why rejection hurts and what to do about it I liked reading this article because I am the type of person so really be affected by rejection. The reason I clicked on it was because I literally just wanted to know what to do about rejection since I feel like I always handle it the worst way. When Guy Winch talks about how when someone gets rejected they hurt themselves more by blaming themselves for the rejection resonated with me. I do the exact same thing all the time thinking that the rejection was completely my fault when there could be so many other reasons for it. I like the advice he gave for when a person doesn't call you back after a first date. Just to talk to someone that actually wants to talk to you does make you feel better after being rejected by your date. Why It's So Hard To Hear Negative Feedback Tim Herrea starts of by bringing up the anxiety we feel when we are called into the office of our supervisor it made me shake because I have felt that way before ...

Topic Brainstorm

Image
One of the topics I'm interested in is the Ghost Stories of India . My parents are from Pakistan so I have heard of stories like this. I have heard about bhoots from my cousins trying to scare me so I think it would be cool to tell my own story about a bhoot. I want to know the true beginning of how these stories started because they are told all across the country of India and Pakistan. I think adding all the stories I heard as a kid could make for a great story. Blackbeard approaching to raid for supplies. Source Another topic that caught my eye and kind of gave me excitement was Blackbeard the Pirate . I have always been obsessed with the ocean because I used to live 10 minutes away from it when I was a child. Hearing stories about pirates was the most interesting thing to me because these were people who lived in the ocean and would steal from anyone they could. It amazes me that they could last on the ocean for such a long time being so secluded from the rest of societ...

Week 2 Story: The man with Three Wishes

Image
Updated Story There was a man that lived not too long ago who was in his late twenties. He found a lamp one day and decided to rub it. Out came a genie that granted him three wishes which could be whatever the man wanted them to be. The man at this time was working as a doctor and decided he was done helping people so he wanted to travel the world. He told the genie to make him a pilot so that he could fly anywhere he wanted and see different places. The genie agreed and made the man a pilot which left the man with two more wishes. After only a week of being a pilot he decided that this wasn't the life for him because he would have to be awake for the majority of the flight and be cramped in a tiny little cockpit.  When he was a doctor he had to he was awake a lot as well but he liked that much better because he was actually helping people. The man had always wanted to be a professional football player so he summoned the genie so he could use his second wish to become a foo...

Reading Notes "The Man in the Moon" Part B

Image
The Man in the Moon   by Katherine Neville Fleeson This story was very interesting to me. It started off with someone complaining about being a blacksmith and they wanted to do something else. Then when he gets changed into the stone he doesn't like that because it hurts him when he is cut. It keeps going on and on because he can't decide what life he wants until he chooses the moon because he thinks it looks cool. He finds out that it is a really hot place then begs to be changed into the very first thing he was but is not allowed to. There is a strong message behind this story in my eyes. It's what makes the story great because it's saying that what you are in the first thing might be the thing you like the most and don't think other things are better just by looking at them. The man is still stuck as the Moon. Source I like how it didn't say that the wise man was God but he was just a person who controlled everything. I think that adds more descripti...

Reading Options

Beowulf The first unit that grabbed my attention was Beowulf. I have never read the story but I have heard the name plenty of times and was always interested in learning more about him. It was one of the very first units that popped out to me and when I saw it it made me happy to know that there is some stories that I might actually know. Dante's Inferno The same reason I clicked on Beowulf was the same reason that I clicked on Dante's Inferno. I have heard about this story many time and in my high school I knew there was a class that required the students to read it. I was however not in that class so I didn't get a chance to read it but now I will for sure make this one of the units that I read. Homer's Odyssey I know my three selections might be the most popular but I also chose them because I have not read them before and would like to. They are popular for a reason so it might be good for me to read about them. It seems like an interesting story since it...
